In mid-December, there was an announcement on the intercom. It explained that the school needed help with monitoring an energy problem at AHS. The school was seeking help from the students.
I was a bit uneasy about whether or not I should be involved, because I figured that a few high school students wouldn't be able to handle this kind of responsibility. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a shot. Right now, I am so glad that I decided to take this wonderful opportunity.
This has truly been a unique learning experience, for I have learned an incredible amount and also have been immersed in what I was doing. If I had a chance to do this all over again, I would without a doubt. I certainly did not envision spending the summer working on an elaborate energy saving program, but I am really glad that this was the case.
I’d also like to acknowledge a few people instrumental in the success of NEWAS.
I’d first like to thank Janet for giving me this amazing opportunity, Dwayne for helping us through some of our technical difficulties, and Anil for leading the way and also for giving me rides home.
As we move on into the next phase, there are still many questions to be answered. However, one thing that is for sure is that we will continue to work until we find a solution to the energy problem at the high school.
